Welcome

AALF is working to establish a home care system for older people in Ghana with Danish inspiration. The concrete project is to demonstrate what it is and it could be done.
AALF operates in the villages. Danfa, Kweiman, Otinibi, Oyarifa, Adenkrebi, located a short distance from the capital Accra. In this area AALF has 162 old women and men with ages ranging from 78 years and older whose health conditions can  be described as critical. To take care of these dependents,  AALF has established a medical team consisted of a doctor 6 nurses 2 physiotherapists and 20 unskilled helpers who perform care in the elderly peoples homes.

AALF has contacts with different donors and has received equipments, including hospital beds, medical equipment and even ambulances. Some of the beds are passed on to a  geriatric clinic and a health clinic. In return the elderly on AALFs project receives free of charge professional services from these clinics.
It's all voluntary. The volunteers are hoping that their work and the whole situation may evolve, so they can start getting paid for their work.
An activity center has been established - Trøjborg Activitycenter - where the elderly receive training by a physiotherapist once a month, and where they also gather for social activities.

AALF is headed by a group of seven. They have a flat management structure where decisions are taken jointly from the individual's initiative. They have good contact with a variety of resources, such as chiefs and people in government.
AALF is accredited as an NGO in Ghana, and generally has a good reputation.
